On his demand Ch 46

CHAPTER 46

As Arnav and Khushi were talking they heard baby's cries.

"Arnav ji, baby!" she stopped Arnav in between his sentence.

"I go and see, Khushi, you wait!"

"No, Arnav ji, I want to see what is wrong? I think he is hungry."

"Okay, get up slowly. Or just wait I get him here."

"Please, Arnav ji, get him soon."

Arnav went downstairs and saw everyone was trying to calm baby.

"Payal, what's wrong?"

"Arnav, look he is continuously crying. I think he is really hungry. Everyone tried, but he is just not stop crying."

"If he is hungry why don't you just feed him."

"Arnav, I tried but he is drinking the milk."

"Can you bring him to our room, Payal. Let Khushi try."

"Sure, Arnav," Payal said and took the baby to their room.

Khushi's heart was shrinking hearing the baby's crying. She just wanted him to come so that she could calm him or at least try.

Arnav helped Khushi sat up as he was in the room and Payal with the baby in her arms.

"Khushi, I tried to make him drink milk, but he does not even let us feed him," Payal said.

"How if you can try?" she asked.

Khushi looked at Arnav now all of sudden she had a doubt if she will be able to do her job properly. He flicked his eyes in a reply for her to go ahead. She nodded and her heart beat thumped against her chest wall. Seeing the baby in front of her made her scared. She was scared to hold him in her hands. Arnav himself was quite scared. The baby was just 5 month old not more than that. He had a fear if he would be able to fulfill the responsibility he had taken without a second thought.

And Payal put the baby in Khushi's arm.

As soon as he was in her hands he cried for a while, but stopped crying. Arnav was surprised and Payal was so relived. Khushi's heart palpitated seeing his tears.

"Oh mere raja, kya hua aapko? (Oh my baby, what happened to you?) Bhook lage hain? (Are you hungry?") Payal auntie will just get a milk for our little prince. Would you drink milk, huh!?"

Baby giggled.

"Would you?" she asked. And he again giggled.

Arnav couldn't help and sit beside Khushi. Khushi looked Arnav and her eyes were twinkling.

Payal left from there as she stood outside the room she clicked the picture of three. For quite some time it felt as he was their kid. But it didn't matter even if he wasn't. The happiness on their face was worth capturing. Payal touched wood. So that her own bad eye doesn't get to them. The whole family had come when they no longer heard any sound of the baby's cry. Seeing them they had indescribable happiness in their hearts. They all wished they stay happy like this for forever.

Arnav and Khushi were too busy playing with the baby they didn't know the whole family was standing in the corner outside of the room admiring them.

"Let's go from here!" Mami ji whispered to everyone, and everyone without making any noise went from there.

Shortly after, Payal brought a milk for the baby in a bottle. But he again started crying, when Khushi tried to make him feed.

"Khushi, I don't think he is hungry," Arnav said.

"But, Arnav ji, what if he is missing his parents?"

Arnav sat up straight as he was first leaning against the headboard. That part wrenched his heart. And Khushi's pain couldn't be put into words.

"Khushi, try to breast feed him," Arnav suggested. Khushi was surprised as well as shocked. She looked at him with puzzle look on her face.

"Arnav ji, how could I? I am not even his mother."

"Khushi, he is just 5 month old, and he might not be just used to the bottle milk at this point. And you can feed him."

Khushi wasn't sure if she would be. "Khushi, I know you are not his mother. But that's not what we are concerned about. He will fall sick and we can't take that risk. Please try."

"Arnav ji, why you just call Dr. Sharma and ask her?"

"I just ask her, wait!" he said, and rose from the bed and called Dr. Sharma. As he put down the phone he said, "Khushi, she said that is the least you can try. And if he is really hungry, he will stop crying," he said.
Khushi was looking at his face and the baby's. She didn't even know how long he had been hungry.

Khushi gulped. She prepared herself. Arnav closed the door. And sat on the chair and busied himself in reading the book. He was scared. The fear of something that he himself wasn't clear what it was all about. He could see fear in Khushi's heart too.

He shoved his own fears and told Khushi it was important.

Khushi prayed to her Devi Maiyan. And then she didn't need anybody else's encouragement. Even Arnav was telling her. And she knew what she had to do. She fed the baby, and this time he didn't cry.

NOTE: [People it's possible for a mother to secrete milk even after the miscarriage. I do my research before I post anything related to medical conditions. So, no surprises there that Khushi is able to feed the baby.]

The happiness in her heart was uncontainable. And the happiness in Arnav's eyes was just a reflection of Khushi's happiness. Khushi thought the void in their life was filled by this baby. She didn't know how long she will be able to experience the motherhood but right now what she was experiencing that was beyond descriptions and comparisons. But it was the moment that was so pure for her, for Arnav.

Even not being the baby's real mom, she had become a mom. Baby's tender hand touched her breast and if it wasn't for that moment, Khushi couldn't have ever guessed what really meant to be a mother.

Baby had shortly slept.

"He has dozed off?" Arnav asked.

Khushi nodded. But Arnav asked her not yet to move. Because he might not be in his deep sleep.

Khushi stayed in the same position. And when she was sure he was in deep sleep she took a sigh of relief.

Arnav's phone vibrated. He thanked God for taking a decision beforehand to put his phone on vibration so that he doesn't scare the baby.

He silently went out of the room even the room floor had rug on it, but still he was careful and closed the door behind ever so carefully.

Khushi kept on looking at the baby. It was a beautiful feeling for her and tears had formed in her eyes. When she thought what she had lost. Khushi had saved the baby and the baby filled the void that she had in her life. Even if it was going to for a short time.

She thanked for every single second. From the moment she held the baby in her arms, breast fed him, and now seeing him sleepy. That truly made her as she had become a mother.

Of course, it was something that she had never expected this.

***
Adi and Gavy came running to see the little baby. "Chachu!" they murmured.

"Yes," Arnav squatted down as he just finished talking to Aman. "What's up with my little brats?" Arnav asked.

"Chachu, ma said there is a little baby in our house," Adi said.

"And chachu, we want to meet him," Gavy said.

Arnav couldn't describe in words how adorable both of his nephews were. The way they were asking if they can meet the baby and their whispers made him wanted to give them kisses. And he did on their cheeks.

"You can!"

"Okay!" they whispered.

"But there is a one problem!!" Arnav said and made a sad face.

"What is it, chachu?" Adi asked.

"Baby is having a nap! That is why I have come outside. Actually, your Khushi chachi kicked me out," he said.

Both of them kept a hand on their mouths and giggled. "Even I want to play with him."

"Chachu," Gavy kept a hand on Arnav's shoulder. "Chachu, it's alright," he said as he really empathized with him.

"We will meet him afterwards. Just like us he needs sleep too."

Arnav smiled brightly at how adorably they said that.

"So, let's go downstairs, and we will come to meet the baby later."

He picked both of them in his arms. Gavy on the left side and Adi on the right.

"Chachu, what is the baby's name? And would he be with us for forever?"

Arnav had no answers to adi's later question. Actually, he himself didn't know how long he was in their lives.

"Why don't you guys tell what we should give him the name?" he asked.

"Super man," Gavy said.

"No, spider man," Adi said.

"No chachu, bat man," Gavy said.

"Chachu, we will call him teddy bear," Adi suggested.

Family members giggled. Arnav put them down on the floor and himself sat on the sofa.. "Chachu, do you like the names?"

"Go to your room and try to find more names. Make a list of them. The one that everyone will like, we will give him that name. Okay?" Arnav said.

"Okay, chachu. Love you. Good night!" they said and gave him a kiss on his cheeks.

"Good night, babies," Arnav said as they both ran to their room.

When they both left everyone looked at Arnav. They hated to ask the question but they knew it was important.

"Chote, what to do with the baby?"

"Nani, I seriously don't know. Police is looking for his parents. As soon as we get to know, we can gave their life back to them."

Arnav knew the question will be asked and he had prepared himself to give the answer to it with a strong mind and heart. However, he already was attached to him. To some extent if not completely.

And as far as he knew Khushi had too and to some extent his family. He didn't know what was God's motive behind bringing the baby in their life and in such a way.

"Did the baby drank the milk?"

"Khushi has fed him," he said.

Everyone was surprised. Everyone had their own version of fear.

"What if Khushi is too connected to the baby and when his real parents come and take him, she will break again."

But on the other hand, they all prayed that he stays at the RM with them.

On the other hand, they didn't want to be selfish by separating him from their parents. Whatever they thought, only told them whatever good they were hoping for was not going to happen. And deep down they had accepted that whatever happen, it will be good for all of them.

***
Arnav went back to the room as he opened the door slowly he saw that Khushi was siting in the same position, half laid on the bed and half sat. He thought it might be very uncomfortable position for her. However, she had her eyes closed so he assumed she was sleeping.

As he entered the room, Khushi said, "where had you gone?"

"I thought you were sleeping."

"I had but just heard you coming in."

"Khushi, why you just don't lay the baby on the bed? You must be tired."

"I don't want to disturb his sleep," she whispered.

"Try to be careful," he said. "He is in a deep sleep."

Khushi put her one hand under the baby's neck and the other under his back balancing on her arms she made him laid on the bed. He fidgeted a little bit, Khushi patted him and he was eased back to sleep.

"Khushi, you can go and eat, I look after him."

"Have you eaten?" she asked.

"I will, there must be someone with him here."

"Okay, I do one thing. I bring the food here. Also, I get his diapers and clothes."

"Okay, come soon," he whispered.

Khushi tip toed and went outside the room to get the food first.
On her way, she went to the payal's room and fetched the diapers and cotton clothes that Payal and Akaash had bought from the kids shop especially for the baby.

"Khushi, I can take care of the baby. Why don't you just eat your food and sleep?"

"Bhabi, I am actually fine."

"Go ahead, Khushi," Akaash said. "I don't think we will be able to take good care of him."

"Okay, bhaiya. Good night."

"Good night, dear," Akaash said.

"Payal, let them spend some time with the baby, they so needed it. And who knows that may be, he will be staying here with us forever!"

"I really wish that," Payal said. "I hope they do get happiness that they deserve."

"They will! Everything will be fine."

***
When Khushi was about to enter the room, she saw baby was up. And Arnav was playing with him. Beside his relationship with his nephews she didn't know how it was like to see him with somebody else.

And here she knew how it would have been. He was playing with the baby. And to her surprise baby was enjoying with him. He was smiling.

"Do you think I am really funny, huh!?" he said.

"You know people are so scared of me," he said. And the baby was smiling as Arnav was telling something funny.

"Looks like, he likes you," Khushi said as she finally got into the room.

"Really?" he asked.

"Yes, don't you see the smile on his face?"

"Hmm," he murmured. "Look, what Khushi is saying she says you like me. Do you like me?" he asked.

"Arnav ji, you haven't eaten since afternoon, eat something."

"Why don't you come and join me?"

"No, you eat first. Until, then I change his diaper in the washroom."

"Why in the washroom? Change here."

"Wouldn't you mind?" she asked.

He thought for a while and shook his head. "I think it will be fine. You change his diaper then we will eat together."

"Okay, then help me. To change his diaper. Engage him into a talk."

Arnav immediately stood from the chair and walked to the bed and sat on it.

"He has just peed!"

"May be, because he didn't had his food!"

"No, actually Payal bhabi said he had done potty in the afternoon and she changed his diaper."

"It means he is fine!"

"Yes, he is."

"Khushi, he must be hungry."

"Do I breast feed him?" she asked.

He shrugged his shoulders. "Go for it!" he then said. "What else we can do? He won't drink from the bottle."

"Arnav ji, I don't know if it's really healthy for him."

"Don't worry, Dr. Sharma said it will be fine."

"Okay," Khushi said.

"But if you want to try you can try for a bottled milk."

Khushi tried for the bottle one, but he didn't even bothered to let them put in his mouth.

So she went with the other alternative. "Arnav ji, I am really surprised it has been more than 6 hours and still didn't really no one has come from his family side. As I know the news of him is everywhere."

"Even that was what I was wondering," Arnav said.

"I hope his parents are fine."

"Hope so," he said.

"Khushi, you feed him, I go and get toys, I don't think he will be sleeping anytime soon."

Khushi giggled, and asked him to go ahead.

Arnav went to the store room and took all the toys that he had bought for his own baby.

And no one he told about them. It made him sad all over again, but when he was in his room and he saw the baby, his all sadness had gone.

"Arnav ji, these many toys," she said, as she looked at them. Also, they were brand new.

"NK had brought for him," he lied.
But Khushi read it in his eyes. He saw her looking at him.

"It was for..." he couldn't finish his sentence. When Khushi cried. Baby had bit her nipple.

"Khushi, you okay?" Arnav asked as he put all the toys on the bed.

"This little prince, bit me," she said.

"Does it hurt?"

"Oh no, I think I am fine. Nothing to worry about," she assured.

"But, Khushi, we can't just call him baby. We have to give him the name!"

"I wonder what name his parents has given him?"

Arnav shrugged his shoulder. "You know, kids have their own version of names. They have few name to suggests already. Like superman, Spider-Man."

Khushi was chuckling. "Isn't adorable?"

"It is. You just didn't see them when they came to when I was outside and they wanted to meet him. And I said he was sleeping. You won't believe what they said, "Chachu, it's okay, We will meet him afterwards. Just like us he needs sleep too."

"They were whispering and they totally had sympathy for me when I told them I was also kicked out of the room."

"They are adorable," Khushi said.

"Arnav ji, can you switch on the AC it's too hot. I am scared he might get rashes due to diaper and hot whether."

"Sure, I get a blanket for him too and switch on the AC at the medium. So that room doesn't get too cold for him."

"That will be great," Khushi said. "By the way, you were asking me to give him the name," she later asked.

Arnav took his pajama and T-shirt from the cupboard.

"How about Arav? Adwaya?"

"Adwaya! Meaning, unique! Arnav ji, I love it."

"See you have a name, Adwaya. Do you like your name?"

Adwaya, was smiling.

"Oh, look, Arnav ji, he loves it

Arnav sat on the bed and kept his PJ and the T-shirt aside that he had taken out of the cupboard.

"He is cheerful child, Khushi!" Arnav said.

"Touch wood," he added.

"Touch wood," she said.

Since, Adwaya had slept he didn't sleep whole night until, 4:00 AM in the morning. So did Arnav and Khushi. They both played with him. And as soon he slept they too did with him in the middle.
